The Story

Raspberry Serpells Wilamette is an almost thornless mid-season variety that produces delicious dark coloured medium sized fruit. A good variety for processing as fruit ripens over a short period of time. Fruits on the previous year’s growth.

Raspberries are a versatile fruit used to make mouthwatering jams, sauces, purees, soufflés or simply eaten fresh with cream or ice-cream. They are a suckering plant that grow best in cooler climates and prefer a rich well drained soil in a position that does not have exposure to the hot afternoon sun. When planting create a mound of 10-15cm to assist drainage, mulch and keep well watered during growing period. Attaining a height of 2m they should be supported with a trellis or grown up against a wall. Raspberries are produced on last season’s canes which should be cut back to ground level each Winter.
